A whole year of firsts! This will be the last installment for 2010. We’ve come a long way, Babe. Here’s the breakdown on the last 2 and a half months or so. Seriously, I can’t keep up with you any more. These are just a very few of the new things you’ve done and tried and gone and done over that period of time. I’ve already shared photos of some of these firsts in earlier posts, but I’m sure I can scrounge up some new visuals ( because I Neeeeever take pictures of you, right?)
October 15, 2010 – First stomach flu. When I got you up in the morning, your crib was a mess. (I’m sure you don’t want to see pictures of that!) I have no idea why you weren’t crying and complaining. I felt so bad for you. Then you threw up all over me while I was reading you a bedtime story. Poor baby. It’s almost a week later and you’re still not eating your former volume of food. I think you still don’t feel 100%.
October 19, 2010 – First time you started waving bye-bye at just the phrase, not mimicking what we’re doing. You know the word now.
October 20, 2010 – First time you started moving to music, your own bouncy dance style. And you’ve been doing it all week.
October 22, 2010 – First time you started signing your own versions of “all done” and “food/eat”. All done kind of looks like bye bye and food/eat is pointing at your mouth, but I know what you mean!
October 23, 2010 – First time you walked in between furniture.
October 24, 2010 – First bath in the big girl tub. You were a fan for about 2 minutes and then decided it was time to get out and wouldn’t sit down. (You’ve since grown to LOVE bathtime in the big bath!)
October 25, 2010 – The first time you told me you were “all done” with a sign with no prompting from me. When you didn’t want any more cereal you showed me the sign, and the next bite you refused. Amazing smart girl.
October 29, 2010 – First Trip to the Pumpkin patch with me and Daddy.
November 6, 2010 – So many firsts today. You drank out of a water fountain for the first time. You loved it. You bit off your own chunks of banana from a whole banana. So cute. You started raising your arms above your head when we ask you the question, “How big is Adela?” and then say “Soooo big!”. Cute cute cute. You also played peek-a-boo with Mima for the first time… I mean you were the one covering your face and then revealing your face with a blanket when Mima said “boo!” You are so smart and you’re growing up so fast!
November 7, 2010 – You’ve started saying “uh oh!” It’s usually more like “oh oh” or “uh uh oh” but it’s adorable. Sometime in the past week you’ve started consistently signing the signs you know (more, food, milk, bye bye) without any prompting from us whenever they’re appropriate. I’m so proud of you! I love that you can communicate with us now.
November 14, 2010 – So many firsts today. We went to Talon’s birthday party where you had your first hotdog, your first lollipop, your first tricycle ride. You were a good sport about the frigid temperatures and skipping your nap. You are my little dolly. I love you.
November 15, 2010 – The first time you definitely played ball with me. You kind of half throw, half hand me the ball after I throw it to you. And you clap after you do it, mimicking my cheerleading. You’re also signing “bananas” now.
November 23, 2010 – First time you tried to give me kisses. So incredibly sweet. You don’t know how to pucker, but you leaned in and tapped our mouth to mine. I love you, baby.
November 25, 2010 – First Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving Dinner at Tia Lynn’s house. And although it’s not the first time you met Tia Lynn, it’s the first time you actually got to play with her! The two of you had a great time crawling around on the floor.
(Sometime this week you learned how to blow kisses. Mima taught you. Every time you do something new, I’m amazed that you can be even cuter. You also dance all the time, every time you hear music and sometimes when you don’t. You love love love your Puppy who sings head and shoulders knees and toes. It’s a guaranteed way to get you to get your groove on.)
December 3, 2010 – Your First Birthday and on Dec 4 your first birthday party. You’re one years old!
December 6, 2010 – The first time I am positive you played make believe with me. We had a tea party and you sipped out of your cup and at your plastic cake with me. You are amazing. So smart! You also leaned how to brush the hair on you’re my Little Pony after I showed you how. I don’t think it’s normal for a 1 year old to know how to do these things. I’m so proud of you.
December 11, 2010 – First time you walked with your walking toy!
December 13, 2010 – First Christmas Party at which you ate your first Candy Cane.
December 25, 2010 – I’ll share about Christmas in another post, but you did have a couple firsts on Christmas day that I’ll share here. Your first sandwich – avocado, cheese and mayonnaise. Yum! You love being able to feed yourself, and you love avocado so it was a hit. Any time I can get you to eat something without immediately swiping it out of my hand or throwing it on the floor, it’s a good day! Also, you got goldfish crackers in your stocking and those are your absolute new favorite snack. They’re also my new backup plan whenever we’re out and you get fussy.
December 27, 2011 – First time you scooted down the stairs by yourself with no help and no fear. You’re a pro now!
The more time that goes by, the more these posts seem to barely scratch the surface of who you are and what you’re doing. But I can’t let the business of life or the immensity of the task keep me from doing what I can because you truly are the most fascinating little girl and I want to remember all the ways you amaze me. So even though I fail at capturing and recording EVERYthing, and even though it’s the end of the year and I’ve completed what I set out to do (chronicle your life for a year), I will still continue to post as many milestones and updates as I can because there is no magic switch in 2011 that makes you less interesting than you were last year. If anything, i love you more and find you more interesting with every day that goes by.
Here’s to 2011 and all the new things it will bring. I love you, little girl… my “Little Miss A” 😉
