Oh my goodness. This post is going back to AUGUST. I’m a little behind. And the photography is somewhat lacking. But this is about the memories. Here’s the last couple of months recap of when you did what you did, for the first times.
August 29, 2010 – First time you let go with one hand while standing against something, grabbed my hand and walked toward me. Getting closer to walking!
August 31, 2010 – First Tofu and First Toasted Bagel. Tofu is one of your favorites. You love it plain, but love it even more prepared with some fresh basil and tomatoes. The bagel you didn’t really know what to do with. We usually end up giving you little chunks of crispy buttered toast instead. You are eating more “grown up” food every day. Also, today was the first time you got one of your legs behind you with your weight on your hands while sitting. I think you’ll be crawling within the week or maybe two.
September 2, 2010 – First cheerios. You officially eat toddler food!
September 3, 2919 – First laughing fit. You have laughed for a long time, but not the kind of hysterical belly laughs we can get out of you now. Your newfound hilarity started this week. And nothing makes us laugh like listening to you laugh, little one. Sammy socks peek-a-boo is what you think is funniest right now.
September 10, 2010 – This weekend was our first trip to Oceanside as a family. We had a wonderful, wonderful time. Although it wasn’t technically your first trip to the ocean, or your first walk in sand, it was your first walk on the beach and your first touch of the ocean. You alternated between being ecstatic and being frightened by the waves. Overall, you had a blast. Also, you sported your first sailor outfit and let your Momma take some adorable photos of you. September 15, 2010 – First time you went from on your belly to sitting up, all on your own! Crawling next stop. You’re soooo close.
September 16, 2010 – We knew it was close. You’ve officially, successfully crawled. 😀 What motivated you? My lens cap. Woohoo! A little Nikon lover in the making. These pics are of your actual first few crawls. I had no time to adjust anything on my camera before you stopped and dissolved into tears (I think you started over-thinking it and temporarily re-forgot how to do it resulting in major frustration), so the pics are unfortunately blurry. But at least I caught it at all!
September 17, 2010 – And now you’ve pulled yourself up, though I seem to always miss you actually in the process. You just magically appear standing up when I look over at you. You seem to be happier in general, and entertain yourself more easily now that you can move yourself around a little. I can see how things are going to get very interesting very soon. Unfortunately, your Daddy hurt his back before we got the baby gate installed. I tried to do it today only to discover it’s not large enough to cover the span between the wall and the staircase. Doh. We’re going to Babys R Us after your Dr’s appointment next Tuesday to see what other options we have because you’re already scooting your way towards the stairs every chance you get. I have it blocked off with 2 ottomans right now.
September 23, 2010 – First time I walked in your room to get you up in the morning and found you standing up against the rails. Also the first time you had a hard time taking a nap because you got “stuck” standing up.
September 24, 2010 – First day you definitely waved back at us. Yay!
October 1, 2010 – First time you “hugged” me. Then you did it to Daddy, then to Mima. You now crawl up to me and climb on me and nestle into my neck when you feel cuddly. It’s heaven.
October 2, 2010 – First time you clapped your own hands together.
October 4, 2010 – First time you stood on your own for a few seconds. You let go of Daddy who you were standing against and just stood there for a few seconds, suddenly looked surprised, and plopped back down on your bottom, the look of nearly missed disaster on your face.
October 11, 2010 – First time you crawled up the stairs by yourself.
October 13, 2010 – First time I realized you will walk holding onto only one of our hands. Also, Mima claims you took a couple steps off the ottoman by yourself before falling, but I didn’t see it, so it doesn’t count. You’ll be walking by December for sure – maybe earlier – is my prediction.
I have some more pics to show off your hugging and walking skills, but I’m going to save them for another post! Phew! At least were mostly caught up for now…
