{Typical Day} May 23, 2014 | 49 Palms Oasis

This was our first 3-mile hike as a family of four, the 49 Palms Oasis trail in 29 Palms. This is true desert hiking. Rocks, more rocks, sand, more sand, sun, and more sun. But we saw lots of lizards, and after climbing up about 1000 giant rock steps, we got to see a real oasis, nestled in the mountains up above 29 Palms.

You are a tough kid, Adela. You scraped up your legs a bit. You sweated. You persevered. Less than 100 steps from the finish line, you sat down and had a moment, but you picked yourself back up, conquered, and set a new record for yourself. I’m proud of you. And you asked to go hiking  again the next day. 🙂
