So actually it worked out that we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day a day late. Sunday is a better day for staying home and smelling corned beef in the crock pot all day. Right? I haven’t celebrated this holiday for years, but now that you’re growing up and can appreciate it, a whole new world of kid-friendly, family-oriented ideas made it all interesting again. First we did a treasure hunt for you, reminiscent of hide-and-go-seek with the Beanies. This was just as fun and we used no footprints. You had to use your eyes and look around for them (see below, you did that cuteness with your hands whenever you were in the process of discovery… adorable). You LOVE these types of games and made Mima and I giggle like schoolgirls watching your enthusiasm.
I looked for plastic gold coins and didn’t find any. So we used Hershey’s nuggets instead. I have a feeling you liked that better.
Right after the treasure hunt, it started snowing in earnest. It never stuck, but it was pretty and piqued all of our interests enough to venture outside for your first playtime in the snow (flurries).
We tried the green pepper shamrock stamp idea. Yeah, they didn’t look like shamrocks. The peppers were too perfectly round I guess. But you still had fun making a mess.
And after that we did the classic fruit loops rainbow with a few twists. We’re still working on your colors. I’m convinced you know most of them, but you tend to say “geen” in answer to most every question about hues. We’re getting there. 🙂 At least you’re using a word now.
You tried your darnedest to copy Daddy and *look* through a loop. Hehe, that confounded you a bit. Good try.
After corned beef and Irish soda bread we enjoyed Leprechaun candy (grapes rolled in lime jello powder and chilled, yummy and worked amazingly well!) and Shamrock Floats (should have been Sprite and lime sherbert, but couldn’t find the sherbert so we used Green Apple Soda and vanilla). Sugary goodness.
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day, baby! I’m Luckiest Momma alive. If I believed in luck. Actually, I’m just really blessed by a good God who gives me things I don’t deserve. Like you, baby girl. Like you.
