Despite my good intentions, time has gotten away from me again! It’s been a few weeks since I’ve jumped on here and shared stuff and been a good businessy business person. I hear my photographer mom friends talk about this struggle. I know the struggle. Mom and Photographer. We desire to do it all and do it all well. But no one can do it all. We can be successful, but not successful at everything.
Something my own Mom reminded me of last week has really stuck with and encouraged me, and has renewed my resolve.
“Choose to do well now the things you can’t get back later.”
Or put another way, learn to say no to good things so that you can say Yes to the Best Things.
I think we need to be reminded, often and loudly, and with many variations, that we cannot do it all. That we do what we can do and make the best choices we can. We need to be reminded that other moms struggle too with feelings of inadequacy and failure and massive LACK OF TIME. I do. But it has gotten easier. It has gotten better. Sometimes good things like regular social media updates are trumped by better things.These two kiddos (who will only be little for a short while!), my husband, walking the path the Lord has prepared for me in other ways, those are my best yeses.
This month that meant Spring planting projects (seeds for Josiah, a Fairy Garden for Adela), potty training (ultimate success!!), the beach in Oceanside, camping, tide pools and lighthouses during a day in San Diego, and lots of days at home doing little everyday things.
I had to remind myself today (before I tackle editing the 5 sessions I shot this week) that I fall short in some ways, but I win too. I want to win at the things that matter most, the things I can’t get back later.

I got to photograph you when you were still a mysterious bump. I was there when you too your first breath. I got to photograph one of your first days at home. I get to watch you get bigger. Thank you for sharing so many of your firsts with me. I hope these photos make you smile someday when you’re older and you have the opportunity to visually experience a little bit of your earliest history. It makes me smile thinking about it.

Meagan has become a familiar face around here, but I’m not going to get tired of posting her beautiful pictures any time soon. She always has a unique vision for her sessions. We’ve worked together a lot over the past several years to make them reality. This time, with baby #2, she was hoping for snow. We watched the weather in Big Bear to see if we could time in such a way that there would be snow on the ground without road closures or freezing temps. We timed it just right and were able to take advantage of the beauty of Big Bear in Winter. So pretty! The location, yes, but even more so the glowing Momma. <3
