This sweet little man surprised both me and his Momma by sleeping through his entire 1 Month session. Generally, I only get that kind of luck with really little ones – babies less than 2 weeks old. Callan is such a sweet, calm baby. At least whenever I’m around. I’m having a hard time thinking of a time I’ve even heard him fuss. And I’m already coming up on his 3 Month session in just a couple of days, his 4th with me (well, actually 5th if you count the time he was in his Momma’s belly!). These sessions are all a part of a “Year in the Life” package we’ve planned to commemorate his first year in a series of mini-sessions. Lots more of this little dude on the horizon. Check out his newborn session here, and the maternity session I did with his family here. And look for month 2 and 3 coming up soon!
It’s been a fun and busy month. We spent the first half of the month staying home, enjoying our little sanctuary and preparing for the destruction of our downstairs. With a second little one on the way, we decided to move ahead with a remodel project that had been slated for some time in the future. Adding a fourth bedroom (of one our current 3 bedrooms is used as an office) by knocking out a wall in our kitchen and expanding into a big open space downstairs that serves no purpose (gigantic dining room or second living room?) and building a wall in a different spot to create that extra bedroom for little boy. Our house is very unique and old, built in 1977. We fell in love with it when we saw it, but I won’t be missing the original cabinets that now lay in pieces on our driveway. It’s been interesting to say the least preparing and living through a major remodel as I begin my third trimester of pregnancy, with a toddler, utter destruction where the eventual nursery for the one on the way will be, and no kitchen to cook in. But it’s also an adventure and it will be so cool when it’s done. But more photos from the remodel next month.
Because before the remodel, we headed out on an 18 day road trip up to Washington – a trip combining business and pleasure, family visits and sight-seeing. We traveled through 9 states, visited old haunts and spent the fourth of July with my in-laws. Here are a very few of my favorite photos from this month. I’m officially halfway through this 365. And I haven’t missed a day yet (besides January 1st when I had a memory card go bad, but I don’t count that.)

She’s so adorable and your photos are so well captured. 🙂

I love them all as usual!! But, I have to say that “Sassy” is super cute!
I feel like I found my groove a little more this month with this 365. I refocused. (No pun intended). I cut back my attention on being unique and artistic, tried to stay entirely away from staged moments, and kept my sight on capturing specific things she’s doing now that make her HER. That has always been my goal (and a huge part of my photo philosophy in general), but this whole 365 process is a learning experience in a lot of ways. And it’s more difficult that I anticipated to stay away from the temptation to stage moments when I’m requiring myself to take and share a photo every day… and to make every photo interesting and beautiful… with a subject who is always in motion, not always cooperative, but always adorable. Even though it’s been my passion since the beginning, it will always be something that I strive to get better at. To let go of the photography and embrace the person. To capture memories rather than just images. It will be my lifelong pursuit when it comes to my kids especially (as much as it translates into my business). A lot of these photos may not tell an entire story to the masses without some elaboration (which I’m not going to do in this post), but I assure every one of them is a PARAGRAPH to me. And that’s what this is all about, telling her story in photos so that I never forget what this sweet 2-year old was like, what she did, how much she made me smile.

Lovely photos! I admire your photographic skills!
Thanks to all of you who share in our joy! We are super thrilled. Would have been happy either way, but there is definitely excitement at the thought of figuring out a whole new gender… and getting to buy all new baby clothes, and boy toys… and getting to watch my husband be a Daddy to a little dude, someone with whom he can hang out in the garage and build cars, and sounds systems, and manly things of all sorts. I can’t wait to be a Mother to a son and watch Adela be a big sister to a little brother. Wow. Heavy. We feel so, so blessed.
God is so good.
We can’t wait to meet this little guy. Half-way there already!
…
(And yes, we took these photos ourselves. I took some, my hubby took some, and we used the remote and tripod for others.)

Congratulations! This must be so exciting! Great picture series! 🙂
I’ve been taking photos of Felicity every month since last December. This time we got her big brother and big sister in the mix for her monthly mini-session. These kiddos are really, really sweet and happy. It’s fun to watch them together. Three is such a great number for siblings, don’t you think? I’ve been trying to convince my husband of that our entire relationship. Since we have 1 and are pregnant with our second, I’m 2/3 of the way there. 😉
Check out Felicity last month Here, or go back to her newborn session Here. And I’ve already taken her 5 month photos. I’m a little behind in posting. Look for that post coming up soon! 🙂
