I’ve had the joy of working with this family 3 times in the past couple of months. A maternity session, a newborn session (yet to be blogged) and in between the two, this. I have been wanting to get into birth photography since the very beginning. Like so many photographers, I love it all, but babies (and little ones) are my passion. I can say without any hesitation that the birth of my two children were two of the very best days of my life, even in the midst of the most intense pain and most extreme exhaustion I’ve ever felt. There is nothing like having a baby. Getting to wed so many of my passions – babies, births, families, photojournalism, photography – into one experience was such a blessing for me. And I couldn’t have asked for a sweeter family to share the experience with, documenting for them “the best day” of their lives, capturing moments they wouldn’t have been able to see otherwise, creating a photo heritage of a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will commemorate a brand new soul’s first day every time they are poured over and enjoyed. Someday Reece will get to relive her first breaths, her parents’ reaction to her arrival, her Grandparents’ joy, her birthday. How can a person not think that is the coolest thing EVER? I definitely do. If my schedule allowed, I would shoot births all the time. What a huge BLESSING to be a part.
Or if you have a few more minutes, I put together a 10 minute slideshow containing even more highlights of Reece’s big day.

Jan Ingersoll - Hi Amanda, You certainly accomplished what you set out to do. I have known these kids for years and I am sitting here in tears! It is sensitive and beautiful, tasteful and respectful at the same time. Loved it.
