Brittany – another gorgeous high school Senior – had the idea to have her senior portraits done here in the high desert, rather than back home in Nebraska because she wanted her Senior Pics to be a little different. The desert is good for that, for novelty, for “different.” So we scheduled a session around a trip her family had planned to visit her grandmother who lives here. We had a great time walking around Joshua Tree and then hopping in the car with Mom and Grandma and heading into the National Park for the end of our session.
I can honestly say, that Brittany doesn’t take a bad picture. She is incredibly photogenic, and of course beautiful in real life as well.ย And she has a vibrant spirit to match. She immediately seemed full of life, not overly boisterous, just a sweet, quiet confidence – the kind of carriage that a person has (it seems to me) when they’ve been raised by a great family, really experiencing and enjoying life.ย That much was obvious in the one evening I got to spent with the 3 generations. I would imagine she’s a popular girl. She’s the kind of girl I’d hire to babysit my daughter. So, that tells you. Good first impression! ๐
She still has another year of high school to enjoy before she metriculates, and so she still has a whole year of planning and enrolling and enjoying her Senior year ahead of her. It’s such an exciting time in life, especially because it’s obvious she has a good head on her shoulders. She’ll be going places.
Brittany brought along a cowgirl hat and some adorable boots that we worked into the session quite a bit. She really wanted to capture the “western” flair of Joshua Tree, and of course she totally pulled it off effortlessly.
We pulled over on the side of the main highway to catch the sun before it dipped behind the mountains, just in time for some sunset shots. The light was beautiful, and we made sure we worked in some Joshua Trees –ย the signature plant of the Mojave desert – and the famous JT National Park boulders.
I loved all of Brittany’s attention to detail – the boots, the hat, the purple nails, the feather hair extension, the earrings, the bracelets, the cute outfits and simple makeup. She did good. And she had some great ideas too. The above photo of her walking away and peeking over her shoulder was her idea, and it’s one of my favorite photos from our session. And there are so many other great ones, that I’m not sharing here. And look at these gorgeous greenish/hazel eyes. So pretty. And of course… the perfect spattering ofย freckles.
Good luck, Brittany! This will be such a busy year for you and it will go by so fast. There are so many wonderful experiences ahead of you. Stay who you are now, and get even better. You won’t go wrong. Thanks for spending an evening with me. I had a great time with you and your family!
